This archive includes a selection of writing by the Lahore-based artist, curator, educator, and organiser Salima Hashmi, and archival materials she collected throughout her career. The published and unpublished writings in this archive offer an illuminating entry into art writing in Pakistan. Apart from being an active visitor to various activities held in Alhamra Arts Council (previously known as Pakistan Art Council Lahore), Hashmi also inherited the poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s vast cultural archive. Featured in this pilot project are materials from the 1950s and 1960s: leaflets; exhibition catalogues; and invitation cards to various plays, music events, and other cultural activities.
