Interview with Ho Siukee by Leung Chiwo Warren
Artist Ho Siukee first talks about his educational experience, from the First Institute of Art and Design to the Department of Fine Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Ho also shares how two teachers, namely, Wong Puikong and Lui Chunkwong, as well as Kurt Chan, a friend among his peers, have influenced his techniques and views on art (00:00–16:27; 32:09–39:37). Subsequently, Ho talks about how he became an assistant to Cheung Yee (16:35–22:40) and in what manner did Cheung influenced his creative ideas (22:40–32:09). In addition, Ho also discusses how his early works in sculpture focused on the relationship between the body and the material (35:21–39:37). Ho then talks further about how his experiences from studying in the United States influenced his creative themes (39:40–54:45). Finally, Ho sheds light on his choice of materials and the creative process (54:45–01:01:00).
