The 27th bienal de Sao Paulo proposes an innovative approach within the tradition of the Fundacao Bienal, doing away with the so-called national representations, attaining freedom from the great geopolitical machine ruling the decisions of the cultural bureaucracy. The 27th bienal looks at each participation as a fundamental piece in a cohesive project titled 'How to live together'. It proposes a reflection on the construction of shared spaces. Coexistence and living together, rhythms of production and cooperative practices are matters woven into attempts to reach an ethical definition of Living Together.

Images of works in the present catalogue are accompanied by artist interviews by various art critics and curators, such as Hans Ulrich Obrist and Hou Hanru. With brief biographies of the interviewers.
