Catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition '50 Years of Modern Vietnamese Paintings: 1925-75', which traveled throughout Japan. Introducing fifty years of Vietnamese modern art, the exhibition features around 90 works including oil, silk, lacquer paintings, and woodblock prints. In the catalogue, these are organized chronologically into five sections – The Ecole des Beaux-Arts de L'Indochine and the Dawn of Modern Art (1925-1945), Artists During the Anti-French Resistance War (1945-1954), Fragile Peace, Division of the Nation (1954-64), In the Anti-US War (1964-1975) and Toward a New Era (After 1975). Full-colour plates, a complete list of works, descriptions and artist biographies are included.
