Guide book for the exhibition of the Rockbund Art Museum, 'Cai Guo-Qiang: Peasant da Vincis', from May to July 2010. Cai acts as both artist and and curator for the exhibition, which comprises a multitude of homemade devices created by peasant inventors from different parts of rural China, such as airplanes, helicopters, submarines, cars and robots. The exhibition focuses on the universal themes of human creativity, the pursuit of a better standard of living, and aspires to highlight the social issues and challenges that face China with regard to rapid modernization.
Includes timeline of collaborative and curatorial projects by Cai Guo-Qiang and artist's biography, as well as exhibition guide, and notes on the international seminar and education programme.
