The present catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition entitled Unity of Heaven, Earth and Human, Exhibition of Shanghai New Ink Painting of Liu Guosong, Chen Jialing and Qiu Deshu at Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art in 2005. The exhibition brought together works by these three artists who have enormous impact in the overseas art market. Zhang Yonglin wrote in the introduction about the works of the artists, 'Liu made revolutionary achievements in art concept, exhibition scope and techniques; Chen made full use of rice paper and pursued fresh natural beauty from composition, connotation and theme; Qiu's ink painting presents florid and gorgeous effects by ripping and rubbing rice paper instead of using a brush.' With preface by Zhang Yonglin and postscript by Chen Jiu, artist statements and biographies.
