Chengdu has been an important breeding ground for Chinese contemporary art since the 1985 New Wave art movement. For the present exhibition, A Thousand Plateau Art Space has chosen Chen Qiulin, Dai Gaungyu, Yu Ji and Zhou Bin to represent the development of Chengdu's avant-garde art over the past twenty years. This catalogue includes a chronology of major art events that took place in China from 1989-2007. Artist biographies are also provided.
