Featured in this video is a guided tour by the artist Ha Bik-chuen on the occasion of his retrospective exhibition 'Works by Ha Bik-chuen' at the Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong City Hall Low Block. The exhibition features sculptures, prints, photographic works, and ink paintings produced over 40 years of the artist's career.
With a firm belief in the value of 'making art out of old stuff', Ha finds daily life full of artistic inspiration. He creates art out of raw materials he finds everywhere. In his hands, a pair of old shoes from his son is given new meaning while a crushed tin is used to communicate his feelings towards city life.
The self-educated artist calls himself an 'adventurer' and never confines himself to a particular medium of art expression. Having created sculptures and prints for years, Ha is now devoted to discovering a new direction in contemporary ink painting.
