Catalgoue of solo exhibition by Mao Tongqiang, featuring paintings from his Logo series created in 2005 and 2006. According to Lu Peng, Mao's Logo series 'is stripped of all sentimental images. The artist coolheadedly condenses all the political and historical issues into the party emblem. The artist apparently feels that sentimentality may cloud one's analysis of history and issues, and that the appearance of any historical figure may be subjected to reinterpretation based ont he manner of appearnce. On the other hand, in the absence of any obsession with sentimental icons, focusing core concepts onto a sign is possibly a more succinct way of expression.'

The present catalogue includes essay by Lu Peng, short writings by Monica Dematte, Maurizio Giuffredi and the artist, Mao's biography. Also featured in the catalogue are Mao Tongqiang's photographic self-portraits.
