This is the catalogue of a joint exhibition by Zhuang Hui and Luo Yongjin at Contemporanea Arti e Culture in Milan. The exhibition marks the opening of this new art space in February 2000. Sergio Poggianella, director of Contemporanea Arti e Culture wrote, 'The choice of the first exhibition fell to China, above all because it is a great country which is passing through a phase of rapid transformation whose developments - very difficult to forsee - can be better understood if analyzed by way of the filter of art.' Featured in the exhibition are Zhuang Hui's photographs of large masses of workers, soldiers and students who seem destined not to see the emergence of their own individuality. Luo Yongjin, on the other hand, works with architecture. He often recomposes various parts of enormous buildings or individual homes in photographs that sometimes unfold for meters. With introduction by Sergio Poggianella and Maurizio Giuffredi. Biography of the artists and contributors of the catalogue are also provided.
