Context

Arts Initiative Tokyo (AIT) was founded by six art curators and organisers in 2001. Based in Tokyo, the non-profit art organisation operates an independent contemporary school (MAD) for contemporary art, artist residencies in collaboration with several funding bodies, as well as a multi-purpose space for exhibitions and other art related events. According to the AIT website, they hope to realise unusual or experimental projects by not keeping a permanent white cube space.
