Shengli Ji's concept of '1,2,3' stems from classic Chinese philosophy. Laotzu holds that "Tao, the Way, gives birth to one thing, which in turn gives birth to two things, which in turn the whole world" and reveals the formation of the world in numbers.
Oneness ultimately conforms with Taoism and Taiji as the language speaks the absolute rule of the cosmos. Likewise, '123' takes shape in Ji's paintings along with his performance art.
Artist biography is included.
