The exhibition entitled Kaiyodo and Otaku Culture: Desire and Consumption is an attempt to explore the relationship between subculture and art, focusing attention on the burgeoning creativity of the comic book and animation industry, and breaking new ground by examining the complex relationships that exist among culture, art, consumer trends and creative industry. The present catalogue includes a chronology of Otaku Culture and Kaiyodo, with a glossary of terms and essays by Takeshi Kudo, Toshihiro Asai, and Naoki Yamamoto.
