This catalogue was published on the occasion of Lee Ka-sing’s solo exhibition at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in 1993. Lee has done different types of photography including commercial photography, and was the founder of an experimental photography magazine NuNaHeDuo (Dislocation). In his insightful study of the photographic works of Lee, Leung Ping-kwan (writer and critic) writes, ‘The Art of Lee Ka-sing tries to absorb the elements of both High and Low art and to open up new possibilities…The objects of Lee Ka-sing’s photography are not glossy pleasing, they are not the Warhol materials which indicate the death of the phenomenological world, nor do they carry a strong sense of fetishism and alienation…What they (Lee Ka-sing and Holly Lee) shot are only ordinary objects. It is the attention they pay to these ordinary objects that make them extra ordinary.’ A biography of the artist is included.
