This catalogue is produced to accompany the solo exhibition of Singaporean artist Lee Wan at Daegu Art Museum, from March to June 2013.

'Lee Wan expresses his sentiments and experiences of the very moment we live, the everyday life we face into art. In particular, he has been persistently raising questions to how much we are encroached in the conventional and external perception.

This exhibition will deliver comprehensive presentation of Lee Wan's introspection and disposition he continually brought forth since college graduation. It will take place in exhibition hall 4, 5 and the project room; his two representative works including, How to Become Us (2011, Installation, Mixed media, Dimensions variable) will be exhibited in exhibition hall 4,5 and his new work, If Given a Chance, I Do Refuse It (2013, Installation, Mixed media, Dimensions variable) will be installed.

Furthermore, the display in the project room will be centered on his new works, produced exclusively for this solo show. Arranged into a roller-skating rink, Riding on The Silence (2013, Installation) and the video projection, Beyond over The Further Side (2013, video installation) let us realize how we are actually set into the sturdy social system, though we seem to live life on our own volition. However, from the images of us forcibly avoiding the situation and living a life conformed to the environment, the artist says ‘Oh, Pure love’ in sympathy.' - from museum's website.

Includes a biography of the artist.
