Li Huayi is a contemporary artist whose paintings are inspired by the monumental landscape tradition of the Northern Song Dynasty (960–1126). This catalogue is published on the occasion of his exhibitions 'Images of the Mind: The Ink Painting of Li Huayi' at the National Art Museum of China in April 2011, and 'Beyond Representation: Li Huayi's New Art' at Beijing Center for the Arts from April to June 2011. The former gathers nearly 30 of his representative works from significant private collections; the latter presents his latest works. Artist biography included.
