This monograph was published on the occasion of Chao's 2004 solo exhibition across Taiwan, China, Paris and Hong Kong. It consists of paintings that range through all the different periods in the artist's life.
As art historian David Clarke describes, Chao's painting has a 'deliberately hybrid quality, and a conscious dramatisation of the disparity between western and Chinese artistic languages.'
Includes essays and artist biography.
