Since 1999, Michael Lin has been creating in situ painted walls and floors that reproduce on a large scale traditional floral motifs drawn from Taiwanese textiles. This publication documents the project in which Lin was commissioned to paint the floor of the bar at the Palais de Tokyo. The accompanying essay studies the art of Lin in relation to decorative arts and popular culture. Also included in this catalogue is an interview with the artist and a brief chronology of his activities.
