The oil painter, Ng Po-Wan, was one of the most significant artists in the development of oil painting in both Hong Kong and China in the past century. Having studied Western art in the Philippines, and having taught in art institutions in Hong Kong and the Mainland, Ng played an important part in reopening China’s long closed off art world to the main currents of modern Western art. The works presented in this catalogue were exhibited at Art Beatus in Canada in 1996. A biography of the artist is included.
