'This exhibition devoted to North Korea consists of the propaganda graphics of the country, through which the history of this nation is told, from its foundation to the present. The purpose of this exhibition is to show the public the development of the urban life of a country that is a result of the division caused by the historical ending of political and economical wars that have isolated the Korean peninsula in the course of the 20th century.

'AlhóndigaBilbao presents the exhibition North Korea: The Weight of History, made up of 165 posters, 28 original paintings and several documentaries that go through the evolution of the People's Democratic Republic of Korea from its foundation, in 1948, until the end of the 20th century.

'The posters, mainly propaganda and by anonymous authors, highlight the progress of the nation, the values of the country and the group effort, as well as the development of the economy of the country. Great part of this material comes from the collection of the Chinese collector Ou Yang, one of the most complete on an international scale. The paintings have been granted by the Committee of Foreign Cultural Relations of the Democratic Republic of Korea. The exhibition is completed with audiovisual documentary fragments about several aspects of the life of the country and the film series "Stories of North Korea", which reflect the current society.'
