First published in 1978, Edward Said's Orientalism has become a classic, and remained to be one of the most important books in the field of oriental and cultural study. In the book, Said offers a critique of the West's cultural and political perceptions of the East, and how the West prevents true understanding of the East by not allowing the East to represent itself and simply defining it as 'the other'.
This is the 25th Anniversary Edition, with a new preface by the author, written in May 2003.
