The 2nd Dumaguete Open Bienneial Terra-Cotta Art Festival, took place in Dumaguete City, the captial of Negros Oriental, from July 8-11, 2007. Spearheaded by artists Danilo Sollesta and Kitty Taniguchi and organized by the city government of Dumaguete and Mariyah Gallery, the biennial is supported by the Foundation University, Silliman University, the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Japan Foundation-Manila. The biennial seeks to foster encounters between artists and potters, and revive the art of terracotta pottery and sculpture of proto-Philippine culture as once existed in Daro, site of a once-thriving pottery community. One of the main events of the biennial is the 'Tampo Lapuk' (contribution to terracotta) exhibition of multimedia art. The 'Palayok' of this article's title refers to a traditional clay pot/oven.
