This volume was published following the 3rd Performance Art Urban Festival (Perfurbance) held from 25 to 29 April 2007. Organized by Performance Klub (led by Iwan Wijono), Perfurbance #3 took place in Gemblangan, a village devastated by the 2006 earthquake. The festival featured performance works by Indonesian and international artists alongside traditional ceremonies and performances from Java. Another important component was a series of workshops to help the villagers rebuild their lives and to discuss social, economic and environmental issues affecting the community. This publication includes contributions by participating artists, essays on the seminar topics, event photos, artist biographies and statements.
