Philippines. Art, Identity and Post-colonial Discourse

This publication and attached DVD (interviews by Sally Gutierrez) were made possible by Spain's Ministerio de Cultura, Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperacion, SEACEX and Casa Asia. This handbook of texts on art criticism written from a post-colonial perspective is organized in three parts: 'Art', consisting of art historical texts on art in the Philippines, 'Identity', made up of statements by Filipino artists, and 'Post-colonial Discourse', a compilation of theoretical essays. In addition, biographical notes, a chronology of relevant events, a directory of art institutions/organizations and a bibliography are provided. This is a useful resource to anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of modern and contemporary Filipino art. Texts are in Spanish and English.
