Catalogue published on the occasion of Taiwan's participation in the 47th Venice Biennale. 'The show Segmentation/Multiplication concentrates on the way basic materials are transformed till they are given their final appearance, i.e., on the artistic language of the participating works. In other words, the focus of this exhibition lies on the prescise stages the art works undergo from the selection of material to the full realization of the artists' concept. In doing so, two different kinds of creative processes are identified: segmentation and multiplication, hence the title of this exhibition.' - Yang Wen-i.
