'The New Look of Taiwan Art exhibition is an attempt to make coherent sense out of the history of Taiwan art since the end of the Japanese period. The 108 participating artists, whose careers span from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s, have all distinguished themselves within the artistic community. This exhibition also marks the Museum's first undertaking of such magnitude, an undertaking significant for the transmission of Taiwan's cultural legacy and for the enterprising attempt it represents to set down the historical parameters of visual art.' - Chen Jungjye, President of The Independence Evening/Morning Post.
Artist biographies and a chronology of significant events in the history of Taiwanese art during this period are provided in the back.
