'In the heart of the sugar mill site of the town of Victorias in the northern part of the island of Negros, stands a landmark in the history of liturgical art. Since it was built 18 years ago, the Chapel of St. Joseph the Worker has been as passionately defended as much as it has been passionately attacked. One simply cannot react to it with indifference or feel neutral about it. Today the controversy about its modernism among clergy and laity has all but disappeared. The artistic elements that have made this small chapel world-famous retain their iconographic power and splendor of form. They stand as potent expressions of religious ideas relevant to contemporary times and to a specific Filipino Christian working-class community.' - Eric Torres.

The book also features sculptures, murals and mosaics by artists and craftspeople such as Ade de Bethune, Charles McCann, Benjamin Valenciano, Arcadio Anore and Alfonso Ossorio.
