This is the inaugural exhibition of the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Taipei, focusing on the development of contemporary Taiwanese art in the past 20 years. Through this exhibition, the organiser attempts to 1) establish a closer relationship between the Institute and the local community; 2) to promote Taiwan as an international meeting point for contemporary visual arts by inviting artists from overseas to participate in the exhibition. The accompanying essays elaborate on the role of the institution. Artist biographies are included.
