This publication was created on occasion of a solo exhibition by Tomoko Kashiki, to inaugurate the new space at Gillman Barracks, presented by Ota Fine Arts from January to March 2014. This is the artist's debut in Singapore. The publication includes works from previous years.
The artist primarily paints female figures in her paintings. Her works are created through painting, sanding, and carving the surface of the panel, then making screens that repaint layer over layer. First sketched in pencil, her works are painted in acrylic onto a linen cloth mounted on large chamfered wooden boards, while in some recent works she has painted directly onto wooden panel.
Includes an essay and artist bibliography.
