This catalogue accompanies the art exhibition of the same title organized by Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 1983.  The exhibition examined the Japanese contemporary art scene from late 1950s to late 1960s.  The work is divided into five groups: 'Yomiuri Independent Exhibition and Anti-art Tendencies', 'In the Aftermath of Anti-art', 'Trends in Prints', 'Trends in Sculpture', 'Maturation of Abstract Art /Diaspora artists/New Trends in Painting/Projected Images'.  The catalogue features introduction by Yasuyoshi Saito, curator of Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, images of exhibited works, the artists' biographies and a list of works. It also includes a glossary of keywords and a chronology of events spanning 1960 through 1969.
