Verksted was launched by the Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) in 2003 as a series of publications and seminars focused on current discourses relating to contemporary cultural production, culture and aesthetics. Verksted #5/6 is a double edition published by OCA featuring two travelogues.
Verksted #5 presents the documentaton of a 'travelling' seminar entitled 'Transbord/Rajis Radjaj', which took place in September/ October 2004. Initiated by the former Founding Director of OCA, Ute Meta Bauer, and the artists Geir Tore Holm and Sossa Jorgensen, a group of cultural producers investigated the cultural situation of the Sami minorities by moving across the state boundaries of Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden.
Verksted #6 documents the Cultural Programme on the occasion of the Royal Norwegian visit to Hanoi, Vietnam in October/November 2004. For this event OCA invited five Norwegian artists to participate in the official programme in Hanoi shortly before and during the Royal State Visit to Vietnam. The publication documents the diverse events of the visit and an exhibition showing the results of the collaborations between the Norwegian artists and Vietnamese students.
