Monograph published to coincide with Xing Danwen's solo exhibition 'In a perfect world' at Ooi Botos Gallery, Hong Kong from November 2009 to February 2010. She uses photography and multimedia to explore China's contemporary social reality, commenting on a wide range of issues such as the body, memory, gender roles, cultural identity, globalization, consumption and desire. This catalogue includes series of works produced from 2001 onwards: Sleep Walking (2001), discCONNEXION (2002-2003), Duplication (2003), Wall House (2007) and Urban Fiction (2004-present).
