Zhao Yannian was inspired by the thinking of Lu Xun, founder of New Chinese Woodblock Print Movement in the 1930s. Zhao’s prints are known for their energy and raw power which have roots in his concern for and interest in the lives of ordinary people and the history of his country. This catalogue was published on the occasion of Zhao’s one-man exhibition at Hanart TZ Gallery (Hong Kong) in 1999.
