This is the catalogue of a touring retrospective exhibition of works by Fernando Zobel. Zobel is considered to be one of the greatest Hispano-Filipino artists of his time. 'He started to paint at the age of 18. His output in maturity spreads out over a bare 30 years, from 1954 to 1984, the year of his death. Together with his work, which may now be contemplated in retrospect, it is indispensable to recall other aspects of his activity: he was a collector, a scholar, a teacher and the driving force behind the Spanish generation with which he would associate from 1955 onwards, tracing its profile in 1966 with the opening of the Museo de Arte Abstracto Espanol.' - extracted from essay by Juan Manuel Bonet. A chronology of Fernando Zobel's life and works compiled by Angeles Villalba Salvador is also available in the catalogue.
