Illustration in Speculative Storytelling | Asia Art Archive Illustration Research Toolkit

Pat Wing Shan Wong (aka Flyingpig) is an illustrator based in Hong Kong. She is Assistant Professor at the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her work centres on urban development, examining its personal and public impact between architecture, technology, identity, and memory. She has collaborated with the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Art, Kingston School of Art, the Museum of London, and the Royal College of Art.

In last year, illustrator Pat Wong Wing Shan (aka Flyingpig) has used AAA’s research materials on contemporary artists in Hong Kong and Asia to teach Illustration at the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University. After hosting a series of workshops, she took these teaching experiences as a starting point, and created this Illustration Research Toolkit. This Artist Exercise aims to motivate art students, educators, and young artists alike to use speculative storytelling to rethink the historical accounts, personal stories, and cultural narratives found in our Collections, and to enhance their own skills in illustration and art-making.
