AAA is participating in Tai Kwun Contemporary’s Booked: 2021—a four-day event showcasing printed matter by local, regional, and international artists, arts organisations, and art book publishers. This year, AAA is taking part with its publishing partner, Afterall, and will have available three volumes co-published as part of the Exhibition Histories series: Artist-to-Artist: Independent Art Festivals in Chiang Mai 1992–98 (2018), FESTAC ’77 (2019), and Uncooperative Contemporaries (2020). The series highlights AAA’s longstanding work in documenting and thinking about exhibitions related to Asia. AAA is pleased to be working with Afterall to support the production and circulation of new work in the field.
In anticipation of the Portals, Stories, and Other Journeys exhibition, which draws on AAA’s work with the Ha Bik Chuen Archive and is scheduled to open at Tai Kwun in the spring, there will also be on hand a number of publications related to the late Hong Kong artist, including AAA’s own Ha Bik Chuen Archive (2019). In addition, AAA will have other publications for sale, including China’s New Art, Post-1989 (2001), Wu Shanzhuan Red Humour International (in collaboration with Inga Svala Thórsdóttir) (2005), From Reality to Fantasy: The Art of Luis Chan (2006), and Mapping Asia (2014, reprinted 2018). A Strange Heaven: Contemporary Chinese Photography (2003) will be available for free.
