Following his earlier 15 Invitations programme participation, David Senior, Senior Bibliographer at the MoMA Library in New York and AAA Public Programmes Curator Ingrid Chu continue exploring the platforms for presenting artist-led publications through the work of cultural practitioners utilising art in print, and by extension, libraries and archives, as a site for their work.
The discussion also considers the potential for current forms and approaches to art books in Asia in relation to existing strategies used to document the exhibition histories of printed matter, and the sphere of social interaction these materials represent in formulating an 'editorial aesthetics' at the nexus of contemporary art production.
The talk coincides with Senior's participation in The Editorial, a research-led inquiry into the expanding role and network of independent contemporary art publishers in Asia and their international impact through a curated series of public events, exhibitions, and discussions. It is a part of Asia Art Archive's live events programme participation for the Taipei Biennial 2016.
