Educators Open House gathers educators at the start of the new school semester to find teaching inspiration through AAA Collections. This year, AAA offers a sampler of our newly launched Thematic Workshops and invites our Educators-in-Residence, Peggy Kwan and Carmen Kwok, to share insights on curriculum planning using AAA’s library and archives.

Beginning with an overview of our Thematic Workshops for school groups, AAA team members facilitate four new hands-on experiences designed to provide students with entry points into our Collections. Participants engage with artists’ books to explore the creative potential of the book form, delve into archival record-keeping to examine the nature of memory, explore archival technologies to imagine how documentation might be implemented in one’s everyday life, and trial our quintessential school tour where students bring their own themes and topics of interest.

Led by Peggy Kwan and Carmen Kwok, the second session gathers educators to brainstorm new ideas on engaging AAA Collections in their curriculum. Peggy and Carmen bring a wealth of experience from many years of teaching Visual Arts in the local school system. Combining collective knowledge and practical expertise, educators will be supported in the construction of their own lesson plans by incorporating AAA school tours and workshops as part of their curriculum, with ongoing partnership offered by AAA’s Learning & Participation team.

This programme aims to create a community of educators who can learn from and support each other in a relaxed environment. It is designed for local and international school teachers of visual arts, humanities, social sciences, and theory of knowledge. Teachers of other disciplines and pre-service teachers are also welcome to participate. A certificate will be given to participants upon request as proof of Continuing Professional Development of Teachers (CPD).

Free with registration. If you would like to join, please register here by Thu, 3 Oct 2024. (Quota: 40)
