Asia Art Archive welcomes Verina Gfader as artist-in-residence.
Verina Gfader is an artist and researcher who works at the intersection of performance, art direction, and publishing. Her postdoctoral fellowship with The Contemporary Condition research project at Aarhus University, Denmark, follows her PhD in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins, London, and her research on independent Japanese animation at Tokyo University of the Arts. She is co-director of the international animation network Animate Assembly, and Creative Director of EP, a book series on art, architecture, and design from Sternberg Press, Berlin. The artist book and edited volume Cloud Chamber (2017) is based on her performance project at the 11th Shanghai Biennale, 2016–17.
This residency is part of the public programmes leading up to the symposium It Begins with a Story: Artists, Writers, and Periodicals in Asia, organised by Asia Art Archive in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, 11–13 January 2018.
