Context

The relief mural on the facade of Department of Painting was one of the earliest works on which artist K.G. Subramanyan and Gyarsilal Varma had worked together. From this, they gradually mastered the art of sand-cast cement murals on which they had worked together for many years subsequently. Artist Laxma Goud, who had come from Hyderabad to specialise in mural design at that time, also assisted in the making of this mural.
