The book is a chronicle of an era that records history through Purita Kalaw-Ledesma’s life. It exposes the historic, social and cultural milieu of her time it to the present generation. Kalaw-Ledesma has experienced various forces that made Philippine society that it is today. She was born to the 'hacendero' clan whose ancestors lived the country's historic moments and touched the lives of some historical figures. She grew up living the values of her class and era, exposed to the dynamic changes happening in society. These changes spanned a wide spectrum - from education, business, to the arts and even politics. All these decades, she had been a keen observer of a culture that is fast changing.
