This exhibition catalogue was published on the occasion of 'Beyond the Self: Contemporary Portraiture from Asia', the first exhibition of South and Southeast Asian self portraiture held in Australia, at the National Portrait Gallery in 2011, and other galleries throughout Australia in 2012 and 2013. Exploring the possibilities of portraiture, the exhibition features 60 artworks including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing and media works created from the late 1990s to early 2010s.
