Comprising a catalogue and a compendium, Ginto: 50 Years of the AAP was published to commemorate the Golden Anniversary of the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP).
The catalogue accompanies the exhibition under the same title which brings together winning works of the AAP's annual art competitions from 1948 to 1997.
The compendium, comprising 15 essays which provide textual reference to the exhibition catalogue, is a collated attempt at mapping the Philippine intellectual landscape surrounding art theory, art criticism, and art history. Most of the essays was delivered during the 1999 Leo Benesa Symposium on the AAP (held from 14 to 15 January 1999 at the Auditorium of the Metropolitan Musuem of Manila). Glossary and brief biography of authors included.
