This book was published on the occasion of the International Mask Festival and Exhibition held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2001.  The objective of the Festival and Exhibition was to 'reactivate and to promote not only the mask making, but also to stimulate a renewed vision on the use of the mask and for a new research on the various other aspects of the mask in a much larger contexts.'  This book is a collection of 12 essays on masks by international authors.  Bibliographies are included.
