Catalogue published in conjunction with Lu Shengzhong's solo exhibition at Chambers Fine Art, New York. The new series consists of a family of cubes and spheres fashioned from stacks of cut white paper, asserting a material presence as well as resonating with cosmological and philosophical concepts. The forms correspond and complement each other on a number of levels, as Robert E. Harrist Jr. remarks, "The six units of Square Earth, Round Heaven imply a dynamic process of generation, through which one form gives birth to the next: planar circles and squares grow into volumetric sphere and cubes, voids generate solids." Artist sketches, production blueprints and photographs of the works installed are provided, as well as a biography of the artist.
