This is the catalogue of the 2008 annual 'VOCA' exhibition, promoting young Japanese artists (under the age of 40) specializing in the field of two-dimensional works, held at the Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo, 14 March - 30 March, 2008. In this year, 36 artists were chosen at the recommendation of a panel of art professionals, including curators, art scholars, critics and journalists. The present catalogue includes short essays by members of the 'VOCA' Committee as well as Eriko Osaka and Hiroshi Minamishima. With artist biographies and comments from the recommenders.
