This political banner is one of several banners and murals painted by members of Concerned Artists of the Philippines-Negros at the height of the protest movement leading to the downfall of the Marcos regime. The “welgang bayan” banner was produced to hang as backdrop to a massive political rally commemorating International Human Rights Day on 10 December 1986 in Bacolod City. It was painted by Rafael D. Burdeos Jr. and the late Roger Salvarita. This political banner has since been restored and appropriated by Norberto Roldan as part of the diptych “Dialectical Materialism”.
