Sanggar Dewata Indonesia was founded in 1970 by six young Balinese artists who envisioned a concept of idealism in the creation of works of art. Their concept was directed to the future while retaining the traditional Balinese cultural and artistic spirit. They aimed to create works of art which blended modern Western aesthetic models and local Balinese values.
The present catalogue features artworks by the third generation of Sanggar Dewata artists. Brief introduction of the artists and their works are included. With a Foreword by Nyoman Gunarsa, Advisor to Sanggar Dewata Indonesia.
