This is the first of a series of exhibitions which brought together artworks by Chinese and German contemporary artists, with the aim of promoting cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries. The organiser of Siemens Cultural Programme has summed up the art of the two artists as follows:

While Luo Yongjin works within the tradition of journalistic photography, Thomas Struth uses stylistic techniques of documentary photography. Luo Yongjin responds photographically to given situations, his shots are taken at the 'right moment' and present to the beholder the characteristic elements in work steeped in atmosphere. Thomas Struth, on the other hand, creates analytical photographs which demonstrate a foundation of strict artistic conception, thus lending themselves to contemplative musing.

Artist biographies are provided.
