Proceeding and reference material published in conjunction with a forum and an exhibition, entitled 'International Forum: Survival Strategies of Independent Spaces' and 'Spatial Ideology: Documenting Independent Spaces' respectively. Exploring the modes of existence and survival strategies of independent art spaces in China and around the world, both events are organised by He Xiangning Art Museum, with support from Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, Centre For Chinese Contemporary Art and Ullens Center For Contemporary Art in 2015. This proceeding includes essays written by academics and curators, forum documentation, related press releases, and information on 31 selected independent art spaces.
